Nanomaterials project to reduce greenhouse gases

The project focuses on greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.

Plastics technology center AIMPLAS, based in Spain, has launched a new project focusing on greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere.

The project, entitled CARMOF, involves building a complete demonstrator of a new process to capture and separate CO2 based on the use of nanomaterials (graphene, carbon nanotubes and metal-organic frameworks) combined with membranes, made using 3D printing. This could lead to an increase of an adsorption area, while CO2 recovery will be carried out by means of more efficient heating technologies due to the application of the Joule effect. The structures will be installed at the emission points of ceramic, petrochemical and steel industries.
